USM BUILDS SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY REST AREA TO CREATE A CALM AND GREEN ATMOSPHERE ON CAMPUS
Used Clothing Collection Project for the B40 Community
Budi Lestari@PPSG is an initiative introduced by the School of Dental Sciences (PPSG), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with the aim of assisting the B40 community through the distribution of new or pre-loved items that are still in good condition. This meaningful project was established not only to minimize waste but also to foster compassion and social responsibility among members of the campus and the surrounding community.
Beyond serving as a charitable platform, Budi Lestari@PPSG supports USM’s broader commitment to promoting sustainability practices within the campus. Since its launch in 2024, the project has organized various activities that reflect the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas related to responsible consumption, community welfare, and environmental care.
Among the key activities carried out under this initiative are community engagements and donation drives held across several locations. On 18 August 2024, the project reached out to the Pengkalan Kubor community in Tumpat, followed by a flood relief contribution in Teluk Renjuna on 13 December 2024. The following year, activities continued with another engagement at the Pengkalan Kubor community on 27 February 2025, a donation to Asnaf at Rumah Amal Mahabbah on 11 March 2025, and a community support program at Kg. Kuala Sungai, Gua Musang on 27 September 2025.
Through these continuous efforts, Budi Lestari@PPSG has not only provided essential goods and support to those in need but also strengthened the spirit of unity, kindness, and environmental consciousness among the campus community and beyond.
