WELCOME TO RESEARCH LABORATORY, PPSG

The Research Laboratory (RL) of the School of Dental Sciences (PPSG) is laboratory consist of three main research laboratories which serves as an integrated facility supporting research, innovation, teaching, and diagnostic services in dental and oral health sciences. It provides a comprehensive platform for translational research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technological development in craniofacial sciences, biomaterials, and oral pathology.

The research laboratory comprises three main research units:

  • Craniofacial Sciences Laboratory (CSL) comprises of three (3) specialized units, Microbiology Unit, Cell Culture Unit, and Molecular Biology Unit which each unit designed to support a wide range of scientific research and educational activities. These units also provide specialized training programs and a variety of services available to USM members, postgraduates, researchers, and collaborators.

  • Biomaterial & Visualisation 3D Laboratory (BIOM3D) conducts research on the development, characterization, and evaluation of dental and biomedical materials. Areas of focus include mechanical testing, biocompatibility assessment, and product innovation supporting intellectual property development and commercialization.
  • Oral Pathology Research Laboratory (OPRL) specializes in histopathological research, oral disease mechanisms, oral cancer studies, and tissue-based investigations. It supports advanced tissue processing, histological techniques, and microscopic analysis.
